A fire caused significant damage to a detached garage on Main Street late Thursday evening, according to the Tooele City Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to a home near the intersection with 400 South and Main Street at 10:27 p.m., Tooele City Fire Chief Rick Harrison said. When crews arrived on scene, they discovered a detached, single-car garage engulfed in flames.
The fire was knocked down by crews within 10 minutes of arriving, according to Harrison. Seven firefighters and two engines responded to the fire, with no mutual aid required.
Harrison said the roof of the garage was completely destroyed in the fire but the walls may still be structurally sound.
While fire crews battled the blaze, the northbound lanes on Main Street were temporarily closed, Harrison said. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
